Beetle House

Beetle House, Beetle House, Beetle House!

Went to the pop-up Tim Burton inspired bar and restaurant in Hollywood on July 28, 2017, with my best friend and had a nice time. We did have reservations for dinner, but in the end canceled the plans to eat since the menu was nothing I was dying to try. I read some reviews on Yelp and people weren't too crazy about anything and to be honest I am all about aesthetics.  Um cough, cough, if it's not pretty enough for a picture, I probably won't want it. Oops, sorry not sorry!

It's Hollywood, so the traffic was bad, even though we went at 11 pm. There's a convenient parking structure (automated- my favorite) right on the next block. We walked over and we expected the place to be packed or have a long line, but there wasn't. So they checked out IDs and we walked up.

The stairs had this tape around the railing that made it look like the snake in the staircase of the Beetlejuice movie! Loved it! They also had a neon light at the top of the first flight that said "Come as you are" I thought it was genius, because hello, Tim Burton = weird! This is one of those places in LA where you go and enjoy the decor more than the actual stuff they sell or have. So we kept taking pictures, just like everyone else!

My favorite movie growing up, and still today is The Nightmare Before Christmas, and they had lots of movie-inspired decor from TNBC. Yay! Took a pic with the mountain top where Jack and Sally sing to each other 😍 and with Oogie Boogie's roulette wheel. Grabbed a couple of drinks and sat down to enjoy each other's company and the atmosphere.

They started to play Pitbull's version of Shake Señora and well... we got into a conga line and danced all through the bar with all the other girls. We all literally jumped in the line! Ha, it was the best!

We left after about an hour, and then we walked two doors down to where it used to be Hemmingways, I wanted to show my friend the decor. Then we went to Project because the promoters were relentless. I felt so old! It made me think of my college days. We smiled at each other and then had a good laugh because we both felt the same way, and then went home.

All in all, it was a great night! Go check it out before it closes down.
